There are many different ways to get involved with FACTSnet throughout the year. Although FACTSnet recruits summer students every year, we also offer internships and other volunteer opportunities for which we are always looking for people. Here are some of the different ways you can get involved with FACTSnet:
- FACTSnet is pleased to work with the Serving Communities Internship Program to offer volunteer internships to post-secondary students in Alberta. All interns are paid a $1000 honorarium after the successful completion of their internship. There are a limited number of internships available to qualifying students, especially International Students. We offer two variations of internships, dependent on your qualifications and interests:
- Standard Internship: the intern works on a specific project(s) negotiated with the FACTSnet team, and assists the team to development of one or more specific networks (See Community Network Intern).
- Leadership Internship: the intern has previous leadership experience and skills related to coordination and management. These interns will take the lead on coordinating one or more networks and will assist the FACTSnet team in developing projects for that network (See Community Network Coordinator)
- For those who would like to volunteer but do not currently attend a participating post-secondary institution, FACTSnet welcomes Volunteer Consultants. Volunteer Consultants are passionate about a particular network. They can lead the network or provide advice, as time and energy permits.
- Internships can often lead to a summer job coordinating and developing our networks. These positions are funded by the Federal Government through Young Canada Works and Canada Summer Jobs. FACTSnet provides opportunities for both English and bilingual students to work from May to August. Postings for specific positions are updated in the February of each year and can be found here.
