Andrew Love- Japanese Projects and Faith in Action Projects

Hi. My name is Andrew Love, and I am a post-secondary student working for FACTSnet in the summer of 2010. I was working on two major projects for FACTSnet.

Having been raised in Japan and being familiar with the Japanese culture, I have been researching for FACTSnet's initiative to create connections and exchanges with Japan. I have worked on three blogs as a support to this initiative. The first one is the Japanese History and Culture Network. It is made to serve as an introduction to the history and culture of Japan to the Canadian student. It is centered around the idea of a future trip to Japan, and suggests sites to visit, etc. The second is the Japanese Values Network. A work in progress, this resource is intended as a resource for students to understand the values that underly Japanese culture. As of now, the resource includes summaries and annotations of books that clearly demonstrate Japanese culture. The plan was for the blog to eventually be used to use Japanese media and popular culture to gain insight to the values held by the Japanese people. Finally, the Alberta Cultural Exchange is a resource for the Canadian students to give foreign students information on their own culture.

I have also been working on the Faith in Action projects; see here for more information.
