    Community Network Assistant Summer 2014 Summary

    During the summer of 2014 the following projects were completed by the Community Network Assistant:
    • Assisting in the digitization of various heritage resources such as The History of the Spruce Grove Alliance Church and Rebirth
    • Presented at a dialogue session on personal and career development for the disadvantaged
    • Worked on career and personal development projects

    Community Networks Summer Heritage Indexer

    Job Description:
    The summer employee will be participating in a team of summer employees developing various FACTSnet networks, which are built on existing FACTS networks. Research, training and network development may take place at various sites within and outside the Spruce Grove constituency and over the Internet.

    The job will involve working with our consultants, partners and volunteers in indexing Ambrose University College and FACTSnet heritage network resources, for use within our community and across Canada. Building on existing FACTS networks new new heritage networks will be developed as required. Based on the heritage indexing networks developed in this project, the employee will host a dialogue and develop a proposals for indexing heritage resources and heritage projects, to celebrate Canada's 150th anniversary. The employee must support our Value Based Medium including the values of our partners and sponsors, and work on projects with our partners and/or sponsors, as required.

    Main objectives:
    1. To contact all heritage, K-12 schools and other organizations within the constituency to see what networking activities they are engaged in and find individuals and institutions that are interested in participating in heritage networks and indexing project(s). 
    2. To develop indexing and heritage project proposals to prepare to celebration of the 150th anniversary of Canada becoming a nation.
    3. To set up indexing systems for heritage resources and begin indexing resources.
    4. To provide opportunities for personal and career development of the student.

    Management and Francophone Heritage Summer Network Developer Summer 2014 Summary

    During the summer of 2014 the following projects were completed by the Management and Francophone Heritage Summer Network Developer:
    • Contacted Francophone schools regarding the celebration of Canada's 150th Anniversary
    • Took care of payroll
    • Supervised and ensured all team member followed procedures
    • Developed proposals for next year

    Community Networks Summer Heritage Indexer Summer 2014 Summary

    During the summer of 2014, the following projects were completed by the Community Networks Summer Heritage Indexer:
    • Researched scanning technologies
    • Created a database for Francophone schools in Edmonton, Spruce Grove and St. Albert
    • Created a database for Alberta School Districts
    • Developed an indexing system and began indexing heritage resources
    • Digitized and indexed The History of the Spruce Grove Alliance Church
    • Indexed heritage resources for Camp Nakamun and did a pilot project with them

The employee must support our Value Based Medium including the values of our partners and sponsors, and work on projects with our partners and/or  sponsors, as required.  Research, training and network development may take place at various sites within and outside the constituency and over the Internet.

The employee may be required to assist the Community Network Assistant in communicating and fulfilling job responsibilities. The employee must support our Value Based Medium including the values of our partners and sponsors, and work on projects with our partners and/or Based Medium including the values of our partners and sponsors, and work on projects with our partners and/or sponsors, as required.     Job description:

The employee will be the Francophone and Management expert on the team and will assist our consultants, partners and volunteers in developing long term networks (with and emphasis on Francophone heritage and managing of not-for-profit networks), within our community and across Canada, that work with families, teachers, students, parents, and seniors. A special effort will be made to contact groups that work with, aboriginals, persons with disabilities, and newcomers to Canada. The employee will develop a pilot project for community organizations to network in indexing and developing francophone heritage resources as a celebration of Canada's 150th anniversary. He/she will take care of payroll and other summer management functions and research resources for managing not-for profit organizations. The employee must support our Value Based Medium including the values of our partners and sponsors, and work on projects with our partners and/or sponsors, as required.

    • February - March: Recruit Students. April 15th is the deadline for summer jobs (see note).
    • April/May: Hiring for the summer (we hire students as soon as we have funding which usually happens the last week of April).  and summer program for everyone , The summer program (for volunteers and summer employees) starts the first week of May.  It includes Career and Personal Development for those who are invited to participate.

    We have applied for funding from YWC (Young Canada Works) and CSJ (Canada Summer Jobs).    Make sure you meet the General Student Eligibility Criteria and you set up an account on the Young Canada Works site.  To apply as a volunteer and/or a summer job  email your resume and two letters of reference to factsuma@gmail.com.
